General Maintenance Vehicle Tips
The maintenance
you give your vehicle will determine it's
durability and your financial security for the
future. People depend on cars and is an
essential part of our every daily lives. Routine
servicing is crucial for the duration of your
car.
For example: An oil change is needed every 3,500
miles, a minor every 7,500 miles, and a major
every 15,000 miles. All these services are
needed to prolong the life of your car.
If preventive services are not done on time you
will soon experience potential problems as CV
boots, brakes, and broken timing belts. If
services are ignored they can accumulate and
cost you more money. Make the right investment
and give your car proper service.
- Make sure you
have your Honda or Acura repaired with
genuine parts.
- Aftermarket parts
last only 1/3 as long as its original
factory part.
- Have your CV
boots checked in all services, especially
after 45,000 miles.
- Boots can tear
between 45,000 to 50,000 miles.
- Replace the
transmission fluid every 15,000 miles to
avoid potential transmission damage.
- Replace the brake
fluid every 30,000 miles. (Done at the Major
Services)
- Tires should be
rotated every 7,500 miles for an even wear
and prolonged life. (Done in all our
Maintenance Services)
- Have your
Honda or Acura checked at least once a year
to avoid snowball repairs.
Coolant should be replaced every 30,000
miles.
- Have timing belt
replaced between 75,000-90,000 miles,
depending on model, to avoid breakage and
engine damage.
- The fluids in
your car do not get "used up": low fluid
level (except for windshield washer fluid
and a small dip in brake fluid level) is an
indication of a leak. If a particular fluid
is low, top it off and recheck in a few days
and weekly thereafter. If the fluid
continues to read low, call your mechanic -
you have a leak.
- Repair leaks as
they occur to avoid expensive repairs later.
- Keep a
small "emergency tool kit" in the trunk of
your car containing all the necessary items
to do this monthly check.
Note:
DO NOT drive your vehicle if it is overheating,
it can blow a head gasket. Have your car towed
and checked.
